Maceo & SeeNote #3 - Purple Rehearsal Jams

EMF Radio and 2tha9s Webcast #3 - Purple Rehearsal Jams

In collaboration with  Entropy MC and 2tha9s, “EMF Radio” presents the Purple Rehearsal Jams webcast.  Maceo and SeeNote are back for a third time to bring you some cool moments of the Purple one in rehearsal.  Included are some gems of songs rehearsed but not played in concert as well as some looser jams with the band hittin' it on the 1 and the guitar turned up.

In all cases (except one), P is on guitar, piano (or both)...maybe even bass on DoW.   Some old jams feature the Revolution and the original NPG and others the latest NPG configuration for the 'Welcome 2 Australia' tour.

Let's Jam!

A review of P's recent performance on Lopez Tonight
Prince made a rare late-night talk show appearance on last night's episode of Lopez Tonight, performing his new song "Laydown" with his band the New Power Generation. The performance is just as funky and flamboyant as you'd want Prince to be, with the gold-suited singer arriving in a puff of smoke while dancing girls in black berets grind on the side of the stage. "Laydown," a track from last year's 20Ten, is one of his best recent tunes, notable for its fine, funky guitar riff and the memorable lyric "from the heart of Minnesota / here comes the purple Yoda." In addition to this song, Prince also performed "The Beautiful Ones" and "You're the One For Me" with Sheila E. (rollingstone.com)

In sentiment, most fans felt the same the way about the Purple Yoda’s recent appearance on ‘Lopez Tonight’ – 2 of the 3 performances were enjoyable but he “killed it” on one of them. Some think it was ‘Laydown’ while others thought he killed it with “You’re the One For Me” (a D Train cover).  So SeeNote and I started discussing what were our favourite performances where we felt he turned it out.

This webcast is the (undemocratically determined) result of the discussion – as limited by time

SeeNote, very cool little podcasts. Great idea of a 'Throwback Thursday' show. You are a late 80's/early 90's renaissance man indeed. Was great to hear BBD - must have played that for a month solid when it came out. For a minute, I thought they would make everyone forget about New Edition. Same with Al B Sure - he was also supposed to be the "next big thing" as he was so talented. Still ended up with a nice career and some nice jams.

You definitely fill a void here with your musical tastes, as very complementary to my weird themes, Y's females only and Purpleblues...well, what it says on the tin - podcasts

Thanks for sharing this...btw, i thought you said "Daughter" not Darling...
